How long does CrossFit take?
Each CrossFit session takes about an hour. Sessions should be taken at least 3 times a week (as recommended by your CrossFit coach).
Can I do CrossFit if I’m unfit?
Some people worry that you have to be fit to start CrossFit.
Which is a bit like thinking you need to do your own hair brilliantly before you go to the hairdresser/barber!
CrossFit coaches will help you progress slowly from even the lowest level of fitness.
CrossFit routines will make you breathe hard and you’ll get a sweat. However fit (or not!) you are to start with you’ll gradually get fitter and stronger!
I’m a soccer player/triathlete/swimmer/cyclist – could CrossFit help me?
CrossFit can introduce some welcome variety into your training program, and it won’t take up too much of your time. You can sometimes learn a lot from exercising with different types of athletes.
If I don’t feel that I can do a particular exercise what do I do?
The CrossFit coach will help you alter any routine so you can build up gradually. They design a CrossFit routine that is based upon your fitness level and goals.
Is CrossFit the same old routines?
CrossFit workouts are varied so people don’t get bored doing the same old thing every time they come to a session. Their “Workout of the Day” commonly known at WOD changes and allows you to push an challenge your fitness level.
What do I wear to a CrossFit session?
It can be tempting to wear baggy clothes, but it’s better to wear clothing that’s comfortable, but allows the CrossFit coaches to see how your body is moving. That way they can advise changes to keep you safe.
Wear the right sort of footgear. Trainers, not running shoes, for most drills, but sometimes you might even be running.
What about food and drink?
It’s usually best to eat a small, balanced meal beforehand, say a light breakfast before a mid-morning session.
You’ll probably need to eat a more substantial meal after a workout.
It’s essential to drink a lot of water, during and after each CrossFit session.
Some locations like CrossFit South East provide food and drink options and even showers and changerooms.
What if I feel sore afterwards?
It’s normal to feel a bit sore after a CrossFit session. To get over it STRETCH and listen to your body. Perhaps go for a long gentle walk or a jog to get the blood pumping round, or rest before the next session.
